In every industry there are those who are pioneers, unsatisfied with the status quo, and driven to exceed all expectations. These leaders develop the techniques and methods necessary to achieve excellence. Their efforts forge the standards that all others in their industry are judged by. In the defensive, tactical, and adventure training industry, one name is the undisputed leader: Front Sight.

Front Sight is looking for a few good men and women who have what it takes. If you can distinguish yourself as a true professional in the defensive, tactical, and adventure training industry, Front Sight challenges you to become part of the most prestigious organization in the industry. Employment opportunities will be extended to those who can demonstrate their skills and professionalism and, more importantly, their alignment with Front Sight`s purpose.

Job Description for Part-Time Staff:

Many of Fronts Sight`s instructors choose to teach on a part-time basis, and maintain other non-conflicting employment. Part-time staff is called to work “as needed”. You do not need to live locally to serve as a part-time staff member.

As a part-time Front Sight Instructor, your primary responsibility will be the safety and training of thousands of Front Sight students every year. Each day you will be mentored and receive additional instructor development to improve your teaching ability and keep your skills current.

Part-time staff is paid an hourly wage which varies based upon your position in the organization. Part-time staff commonly aspire to higher level teaching positions. No employee benefits are extended to part-time staff and all expenses (such as travel, food, lodging, etc,) are your responsibility.

Front Sight challenges its staff to maintain the highest standards of ability and performance. When Front Sight expands its full-time staff, we look first to our existing part-time staff who are proven performers.

Instructor Development Course:

The process to become an Instructor at Front Sight is through our Instructor Development Course. The Instructor Development Course is four days long, held on the dates listed in the course schedule. The Instructor Development Course is essentially a four-day interview and audition with specific performance expectations. We will dismiss participants as the course progresses who do not meet these expectations. The Instructor Development Course is structured to make you the best instructor possible in four days. During the four days, you will be lecturing blocks of instruction, demonstrating your technical skills, coaching, and running the class. You will be judged on your abilities in each of those categories as well as your command presence and attitude.

We provide our Instructor Development Course to build Front Sight`s instructional staff. We are not interested in building your skills so that you can use them elsewhere. We will ask you to sign a non-competition agreement stating that you will teach for Front Sight exclusively and for no other private firearms school. Full-time law enforcement and military instructors are welcome to apply. Similarly, part-time NRA, Boy Scouts of America, or CCW instructors are welcome to apply.

Enrolling in the Instructor Development Course:

  • Fax your resume to (866) 834-8563 or E-mail resume to [email protected].
Do not fax your resume to Front Sight’s headquarters in California.
  • Indicate which Instructor Development course you are interested in (pick only one):

Ongoing Training:
You must thoroughly understand the curriculum of the course you wish to teach. The best way to gain that understanding is to take that course as a student. Therefore, it is Front Sight policy that you must have taken, as a student, the course you wish to instruct.
