Both facilities are owned, managed, and operated by the same staff so quality and consistency are absolutely guaranteed. Our Alaska and Nevada facilities compliment each other very well. During the summer months, come to Front Sight Alaska for first-rate training and unbelievable outdoor adventures. During the rest of the year come to Front Sight Nevada for world class training as well as city life, opulent hotels, world-renowned dining, and million-dollar stage shows. What is Front Sight Alaska's mission? "Our mission is clear. Front Sight Resort Alaska is your host, educator, and guide for world-class outdoor adventures and personal safety training." What is Front Sight Nevada's mission? Our Founders Message says it all. Where is Front Sight Alaska located? Front Sight Alaska is located on approximately 320 acres in the northern portion of Alaska's Kenai Peninsula. We are about 20 minutes drive from the airport in Kenai, Alaska. How long does it take to drive to Front Sight Alaska from Anchorage? About 30 minutes by air or three hours by car. The distance is about 160 miles. Remember, the state of Alaska is huge and the travel distances may be greater than you are used to in the lower 48. The good news is the scenery is terrific and you will have ample daylight. Does Front Sight Alaska offer on-site lodging and dining? Not at this time. Those are services we will likely add in the future. What are the nearest towns to Front Sight Alaska? Kenai is about a 20-minute drive and Soldotna is another 10 minutes. Kenai is the 6th largest city in Alaska and offers ample lodging, dining, car rental, and retail opportunities. Front Sight Alaska is located very far from my home. Will a trip to Front Sight Alaska be worth the time and effort? The experiences you and your family will have at Front Sight Alaska cannot be found anywhere else. This is the reason our students travel from across the United States and around the world to receive what they fondly refer to as the "Front Sight Experience". A trip to Front Sight Alaska is definitely worth the time and money because the safety and happiness of you and your family is priceless. What is your membership program all about? Front Sight offers a membership program so you can reach your training goals faster and cheaper. Please see our Membership link. Is Front Sight Alaska appropriate for the entire family? Front Sight Alaska is designed for the entire family. Sure, you could come alone but exploring the last frontier with your entire family is even better. Will your training and recreational offerings increase in the future? Front Sight enjoys a minimum of 40% growth each year due to the huge positive response of our students and members and the exploding demand for our training and recreational services. We look forward to continued future expansion and offering more facilities around the country, more courses, more course dates, and most importantly, many more satisfied Front Sight students. How bad are the bugs? There are certainly bugs in Alaska but their numbers depend on season, precipitation, and wind. Bugs on the Kenai Peninsula are modest compared to other places in Alaska, such as Interior Alaska and the North Slope. There is no West Nile Virus in Alaska. What is the temperature like in the summer? The weather is very nice with highs in the 60's and 70's. See our link to Temperature and Precipitation. Is it likely to rain? The Kenai Peninsula does get a modest amount of rain in the summer. See our link to Temperatures and Precipitation. How long are the days? The hours of daylight vary seasonally. The summer days are long, approaching 20 hours. For details, see our link Sunrise and Sunset. When is the best time to visit? That depends on what you want to do. Check some of the information on Interesting Links to determine the ideal time for your vacation. Regardless when you come to Front Sight Alaska, there are more activities than you will be able to absorb in this lifetime. Can I bring my dog with me to Alaska? Yes, dogs are common in Alaska especially for waterfowl hunting. However, since we don't have boarding facilities, you will need to make arrangements for your dog during the time you are at Front Sight Alaska for training. Do I need to be armed at all times to protect myself from bears and moose? Alaska's concealed weapon laws are very lenient and you may carry a handgun if you wish (with some obvious limitations). However, the odds of you needing a weapon to defend yourself against a bear while at Front Sight Alaska are less than one in a million. How expensive is traveling in Alaska? With no planning or advance reservations, Alaska travel can be expensive during the peak summer season. The key to less expensive travel is advance planning. With prior planning, Alaska is comparable in price to other destination locations. Do you offer Alaska-appropriate gear for sale in the Pro Shop? Yes, we have a wide selection of supplies and equipment for your Alaskan adventures. Feel free to contact the Pro Shop for details. Do you have EMT's on site at Front Sight Alaska? Yes, we always have EMT's on site for your continued safety. What are the towns of Kenai and Soldotna like? Kenai and Soldotna are very modern towns with all the usual conveniences.
